What up good people!
As some of you may have noticed, I have been off the scene for the past couple of months. If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been or what I’ve been doing, I was S.A.D. – Stressed – Anxious – Depressed. The funny thing is, I had been S.A.D. for most of 2009, but felt it more important to make sure The Glass House was winning instead of making sure Sonya was winning. For several months, many of my friends suggested I start taking care of myself, talk to someone, slow down – but I chose not to listen.
Not listening finally caught up with me on New Year’s Eve – of all days – when I had a ridiculously major breakdown and was hospitalized for a few days. When you carry a monster (The Glass House website) on your shoulders on top of personal issues you’re not dealing with, you’ll sink eventually – no matter how hard you attempt to swim. Luckily I sank before I had more to lose. Because of this blessing that has grown into a burden, The Glass House website is going on hiatus. It utterly pains me to do this more than any of you can imagine. However, because I am the only one managing the site – literally a full-time job for me – the amount of time and energy needed to overcome anymore “humps” I would encounter would require much time and energy. I need to invest that same time and energy into strengthening myself. On a more positive note, I managed to accomplish more on my own in one year than I ever would have imagined. Creating an entire staff of contributors, being approached by regional and national arts and entertainment folks for press, and many more were all feats I never expected to accomplish within the first year. For those reasons, and because I really enjoy the work in this field, The Glass House will return online soon. In the meantime, keep an eye out for The Glass House in places near and far. I thank all those who supported the website up until this point and have shown us love when we were out in the streets. I would not even be writing this if it were not for y’all.
Stay up, stay true!
Sonya C. aka @Sonya_Wins
get well. ive been there. i feel you. hope to see you out and about.
…here during the hiatus, and of course when you’re back full force. Take all the time you need to strengthen you, but be sure to keep the reminder of how strong you have already proven yourself to be at the forefront of your mind. And don’t stay down for too long, cause we need you! Glasshouse definitely gave 09 a run! We have so much more reaching and influencing to do…
love you!
